Denver and Rio Grande Western Railroad P.149

Denver and Rio Grande Western RR Pullman car #1272, Brigham Young on The Prospector at Salt Lake City Union Depot, June of 1962. This is one of four cars built by Pullman-Standard Car Manufacturing Company in March of 1950. Other cars built include: #1270 John Evans, #1271 David Moffat, and #1273 Heber C. Kimball. These were officially built as ten roomettes, six double bedroom Pullman cars. Rebuilt in 1951 to a unique five open section (at the vestibule end), six double bedrooms and five roomettes designed by Pullman-Standard. Leased by the Pullman Company for service on The Prospector, trains #7 / #8 on car lines D-5 and D-7 west-bound, and D-6 an D-8 east-bound. Sold in February of 1970 to the National Railroad of Mexico by the Rio Grande. Colors: silver and orange with black stripes and lettering on the D & RGW. Donor: Mike B. Davis.
