Description Credit as ""U.S. Army Photograph"" No. VI-771-B Tractors and other vehicles will be guided into and through the radiological test area by means of a network of cables buried a few inches underground. Now under construction by the U.S. Army Chemical Corps, the circular test area will be surrounded by a thick wall of concrete and thick earthen embankment separated by a moat six feet deep. All testing of nuclear radiation effects will be conducted by automation and remote-handling equipment. Vehicles within the area will be directed on any desired pattern of movement and time-of-travel by electrical impulses from cables.
