Description Chinaman's Arch, on east side of Promontory along the old right of way. Only monument to the thousand or more Chinese who lost their lives through this section in winter of 1868-69 by accident, disease and overwork. It was near here that the Irish of the U.P. cut two flat cars loaded with Chinese workers from a train letting them roll back down the hill, killing and injuring most of the crews. Also near here the Irish laid a "grave" of dynamite on the Central Pacific grade killing a Chinese crew. Sgt. Wm. C. Sackett, Utah State Highway Patrol, Brigham City, in foreground. Donor and Photog: Bernice Gibbs Anderson, 1957. Used in U.H.Q. April, 1961.
