"RGW Railroad depot Scofield": the latter photo also shows D&RGW Railroad engine 77; this confines both photos to the period 1886-1889, locomotives of the Denver & Rio Grande were used, and these are former D&RG locomotives re-lettered for the Western. In 1890 the railroad became simply the Rio Grande Western and was largely converted to standard gauge. Information from Cornelius Hauck, Colorado R.R. Museum. |
