Description Diesel units of the Western Pacific RR layover at the SLC Union Depot. Units pulled the eastbound California Zephyr into SLC where units of the D&RGW RR take over to Denver. The Chicago Burlington & Quincy forwaved the train from Denver to Chicago. Train started in Mar., 1949 & lasted for almost 20 yrs. Train carried 5 dome cars. The units layover during the day arriving before 6:00a.m. & leaving after 10:00 p.m. the same day to pull train back to Oakland via the Western Pacific's Feather River Route. Units built by E.M.O.
