Description Utah Central Railroad Gift of Robert W. Edwards. The first train to enter Salt Lake City. This picture is a copy of what is clamed to be the only photograph in existence, taken at 11:15 a.m. on January 10, 1870, after the train had left Ogden and was nearing Farmington. At the time this was taken, the Ogden Short Line had not been thought of, and the road was known as the Utah Central. This later was absorbed by the Union Pacific and Short Line interests and old right-of -way is now part of the main line between Salt Lake City and Ogden. Robert Bolt, engineer, and John Reeve, agent of Utah Central at Ogden, is standing on front step.
