| Description |
This January, 1961 photograph of the Kennecott Copper mine shows many of the levels of track the pit then contained. Ore was brought out by rail before the introduction of large trucks which in turn have been supplanted by conveyor belts. Some ore in 1990 is still brought out by rail, but most is now belted out, then slurried in a pipeline to Magna for smelting. Donor & Photog.: Mike B. Davis. |
