Description Two miles south of the present town of Deseret. This was built as a refuge for the inhabitants in whose memories lingered the Gunnison Massacre of a few years before. Note the loop holes and door. The loop holes guard the door. Originally, the doors were fitted with huge, iron studded ponderous doors, securely bolted from within. Built of mud and reinforced with straw. Gone to ruin now. (1926). Gift of Charles Kelly.
