Description Brush Creek Mountain lies just over the hill to the north of the Steinaker Draw and Reservoir. Deposits of phosphate were discovered and in 1936 a group of businessmen gathered in discussion for the proposition of construction of a manufacturing plant for the concentration of the Humphrey's Phosphate deposits just 14 miles north of Vernal. These deposits lye horizontally o the face of the mountain north of Brush Creek, the creek. This mountain has supplied the public with much recreation and industry, from fishing in the Creek to hiking on the mountain, and the mining of phosphate and copper at the Dyer Mine, and cutting of timber by several saw mills
