Description Edwin L. Oaks was born in 1879 in Heber City, Utah. His parents were Hyrum Edwin and Sarah Watson Oaks. At the age of 12 his family came to the Ashley Valley. He worked for the forest service, a state road supervisor for the Uintah district, and also served as a county commissioner for one two year term. His first wife, Annie Allen died in 1918 and the married Ida Swain. He had two sons and five daughters. He died on October 19, 1945 in Vernal, Utah. He is buried in the Maeser Cemetery.
