Description |
In 1931 Effie and Charlie Wise moved from Illinois to Jensen, Utah, and built the Escalante Hotel and Cafe. Wise built a lean-to addition onto the building for room rentals. By 1937 there was a beer parlor in operation in the addition. Harlin and Mamie Wellman bought the business from the Wises in 1944 and changed the name to the Bridge Inn. The beer parlor was then moved into the main building and the hotel ceased to exist. Clyde Woods Sr. purchased the establishment in the 1950s. Kate and George Ainge bought it in the mid 1950's. Mel Robby then purchased the business and operated it until it closed in the early 1970's. Marie Nelson and Mae Wilkins standing in front of the Bridge Inn in Jensen. |
