Description This was the cellar built on the first Marimon Store by Bob Marimon Jr. He used the structure as a basement on the new store after it burned in 1930. The Whiterocks Trading Post, except for a three year period, was operated by the Marimon Family since 1902. It was August 28, 1902, when Marimon purchased the post from Mr. Calvert. The Sr. Marimon operated the store until 1927 when he sold it to Oscar M. Lyman. Mr. Lyman was burned out of business in September, 1930. Marimon's again resumed ownership of the property rebuilding the store. In June of 1948, the sale of the Whiterocks Trading Post to Lawrence E. and Harold M. Phillips was announced by Robert L. Marimon Jr . He had been the proprietor of the store and a licensed Indian trader at Whiterocks, Utah, for the last 18 years. The effective date of the sale was June 1, 1948. This was a Uintah Basin landmark and a near tradition among the Ute Indians of the Uintah-Ouray reservation. The little girl is Rita Ellingford. The Ellingfords lived in the Tridell Area of Uintah County, Utah. ]
