Update Item Information
Title Mary Boyd
Identifier 7963
Subject Woman--Boyd, Mary
Description Mary Boyd was one of Lander, Wyoming's, favorite young ladies in the 1890's and she caught the eye of Butch Cassidy. A romantic relationship developed and flourished. But Cassidy's problems with the law prevented him from settling down. Mary eventually married Ol E. Rhoades. She is shown here with her two children by Rhoades. Family continued to say that Mary continued to see Cassidy throughout her married life. Later, as a widow, she was one of those in the Wind River Country who was contacted by William T. Phillips when he began visiting there. Mary's granddaughter, Ione, was with her when she first met Phillips and there was no doubt in Ione's mind that Phillips was Cassidy.
