| Description | Butterfly or Squash blossom hair style -Announcing her approaching womanhood, a Hopi girl has her hair fashioned in the traditional butterfly or squash blossom whorls. The hair is arranged over a wooden form (later withdrawn) by an aunt or grandmother for the young girl's appearance at the ceremonial dances. Woman with a long silver necklace, floral shawl dropped over her shoulders with an additional red, white, and blue blanket on top of that. She is wearing a aqua shirt under her wrap that has red and green accents. Her hair is done up so that big buns are by her ears. they look like butterfly wings." |
