There is some question about the artist who painted this particular iconic tiger. The upper part of the painting bears the seal of Hyeonjae (玄齋), which was the pen name of Sim Sajeong (沈師正, 1707-1769), a representative painter of the 18th century Joseon Dynasty. Thus, the painting was previously attributed to Sim, but that view has since been strongly challenged, because the style of the calligraphy varies definitively from Sim's."--National Museum of Korea website.
