Image was scanned from color slide. Nanking is the romanization of Nanjing, which is the capital of Jiangsu province in China. Peking Opera is a style of traditional Chinese theater, begun in the 18th century, which combines music, mime, vocal performances, acrobatics, and dance. During the Cultural Revolution of China, Peking Opera was considered "feudalistic" and was replaced with "Revolutionary opera" designed by Chairman Mao's wife. |
