Additional Information Image was scanned from color slide. The first Imperial Hotel in Tokyo was built in 1890 and burned down in 1919. A new hotel was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and constructed in 1923. A new wing was built directly behind the older one in the 1950s. It was torn down and replaced by a new building in 1968, while the central lobby and reflecting pool of the Wright building were disassembled and reconstructed for display at the Meiji Mura museum.
