Additional Information Chrysanthemum crest, or Kiku no Gomon, is the official imperial crest of Japan since the Meiji period and it may be carried only by temples and shrines of the highest rank. Amanohashidate is a pine-covered sand spit whose name means "bridge to heaven." Image was scanned from color slide. Caption is from photographer's notes on slide
