Additional Information At Japanese shrines, bell(s) are to be rung when a visitor makes a short prayer on front of shinden, during which hands are clapped four times. Amanohashidate is a pine-covered sand spit whose name means "bridge to heaven." Image was scanned from color slide. Caption is from photographer's notes on slide
