Description This is a patient with cerebellar ataxia but without spontaneous downbeat nystagmus (DBN). However, DBN can clearly be seen with convergence and in lateral gaze (along with gaze-evoked nystagmus, which in addition to DBN causes an oblique or diagonally oriented nystagmus referred to as "side pocket nystagmus").
