Description Direct ophthalmoscopy (DO) is a critical component in the evaluation of many neurologic conditions. Proficiency in DO has declined for non-ophthalmologists in the last several decades, and numerous educational strategies have been explored in the context of undergraduate medical education. However, there are limited studies on DO training during neurology residency. We propose an innovative, optometry rotation for neurology residents that incorporates deliberate practice and self-regulated learning to enhance DO competency.
