Description Amiodarone, commonly prescribed as an antiarrhythmic drug, has been documented to cause ocular toxicity, the most common being verticillate keratopathy. The most serious side effect is optic nerve injury, with often permanent unilateral or bilateral visual loss. Amiodarone-associated optic neuropathy (AAON) had a wide range of clinical presentations and poorly understood pathophysiologic mechanisms.
