I know this house, it is just up the street from my great grandfather's house. It is possible that the wood portion is one of the oldest in town; it employs the Italianate details similar to one of my great, great grandfather's houses at the other end of town . I think they might be the only two this fancy (for the early non-brick houses). The house could be N.R. eligible, depending on the ownership history. I really hope this guy isn't planning another addition because this really is a great house and it looks like a lot of effort went into preserving/restoring it. Tell him that if he wants a bigger house to build to do it up in the hills like all the other vacationers. As far as a district, it might be a tough sell, although it could be a mini Spring City. Most of the historic homeowners are descendents of the originals, I'm pretty sure, and are mostly Washington Co. conservatives/recreationists who don't want gov't interference (whether real or perceived). Maybe this guy would have a better idea of the attitude there. A side question for you : do you know where the computer file lives for the National Register certificate? Roger or Bonnie told me that you had worked it over to make it fit on a regular-size sheet of paper. We're going to be running out soon and nobody knows where the file is. Thanks, Cory »> "Charles Shepherd" <cshepherd@mjsaa.com> 07/26/02 01 :44PM »> Cory-Attached are some photos from the owner (there are a lot more interior/detail views) of house in Pine Valley. Do you know the house? I don't know the real intentions (interior modificaitons? big addition?) of the owner but what do you think about NR listing? Any historic district in the works? Any other thoughts? Thanks. Charles |
