Description Utah residents indicate a wide range of opinions about Utah's tourism industry. In a statewide survey conducted in Fall 2021, Utah residents recognized the extensive reach of tourism activity in the state, revealed their firsthand experiences recreating in Utah, and noted the importance of tourism to Utah's economy. A majority of respondents reported the positive effects of tourism outweigh the negative. Many also indicated that tourism has a positive effect on the state's reputation and that Utah offers a positive experiences to visitors. Thirteen percent felt negative effects outweigh the positive, with the influence of tourism on housing affordability receiving negative ratings, and the effects of overcrowding and the impact of tourism on lands and the environment on top of mind for many respondents.
