Show lnrrii ~tabt ~iiiitsimaiiJ lr~ nrrliirtriinrrr f ~tdmthtn J'\am, ethnic minorities and women are under represented in the fields of math, engineering and science careers; J'\am, in September ]_ 985, the Math, Engineering, Science Achievement (ME.SA) program was established to encourage ethnic minorities and female students to em-oU in math, engineering, and science classes; J'\mu, Utah's strength is in the future and education of its people and in t he acceptance and rich ness of it s cultural diversify; J'\mu, during the past 20 years MESA hAs served more than 40,000 female And ethnic minority students; J'\irm, many of these individuals are im·olved with science, technology, engineering, math and are contributing members of our community; J'\trm, MESA is oHered in 80 schools, serving an average of more than 3,000 ethnic minorities and female students each year; J'\mu. the economic future of Utah depends upon a well-trained, diverse workforce; J'\rnu, the Industry Advisory Council of MESA has provided approximately $400,000 for scholarships assisting MESA students to attend Utah colleges and. universities, a.nd J'\rnu, it is the desire of this state to conti1111ue to support and increase the efforts of public education, higher education and industry to encourage ethnic minorities and female students to participate in the goals and objectives of MESA; ;N,is, 1J\nrfffr, I, Jon M. Nino has peiformed throughout the United States. He was one offive jluite players selected to be part of the 2002 Olympic Games held in Salt Lake City, Utah. His third CD was released in the spring of2004 and won a international Telly award. |
