As people of other faiths came to the area they also established church schools. The Presbyterians established schools for their own people. The Memorial Presbyterian Chapel in Salina is a typical example of this type of school and church. It was erected in 1884. It was paid for by Elizabeth Crosby of New York City as a memorial to her daughter Helen Rutgers Crosby who died in 1882. A couple from California bought the church and converted it into a summer vacation home. |
