Lucero Ward meetinghouse, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints [04]

Address: 232 West 800 South, Salt Lake City, UT. A Spanish-speaking ward of Salt Lake Latter-day Saints was organized in 1923 as the Salt Lake Mexican branch (or "La Rama Mexicana"). This building was built in 1950, largely from funds and construction labor provided by the ward members, and dedicated in 1951. Its Spanish colonial-style architecture reflected the people's culture and became a community gathering space for folk dances, cultural events, and services for immigrants and refugees. Eventually, the ward outgrew the building, was divided and dispersed, and the building was sold. Since 1985, it has housed a daycare center called Miss Billies Kid Kampus. In 2023, Antioch Community Church (a.k.a. Antioch Salt Lake), an evangelical church newly planted in 2021, was meeting there.
