Subject Optic Neuropathy; Vascular Disorders
Description The urgent and accurate identification of the arteritic form of anterior ischemic optic neuropathy (AAION) from giant cell arteritis is of critical importance, often requiring complex and invasive interventions. The aim of this study was to evaluate the performance of a deep learning system (DLS) to distinguish acute optic disc swelling in AAION from acute swelling in acute nonarteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy (NAION), on standard ocular fundus photographs.
