The Baggs House is a one-story bungalow, c. 1925. It has a hipped roof with a brick chimney, and a small entry porch. Directly above the entry porch is a small clipped gable with rafters exposed. The home is made primarily of brick, yet it does contain some stucco. The home is accompanied by a small garage on the southwest section of the property. In 1925 the Lakeview Lumber Company acquired the property from Orlaf and Matilda Farr, who were likely realtors, for over the ten years preceding this transaction the land was switched from realtor to realtor. In 1926, less than one year after the home was built, Edwin S. and Pearl C. Baggs purchased the dwelling. Mr. Baggs was born in Layton on November 24, 1895, a son of Andrew T. and Mary S. Baggs. At age eight he moved to Ogden with has famil~; he attended Ogden City schools and graduated from the Weber Academy in 1915. Later that same year he married Pearl Cross Baggs. He had been employed by the Van Allen Canning Company and later by the Wholesale Drug Company. And in June of 1938 he and his son, Spencer Baggs, organized Baggs Oil Company, which subsequently became the Wasatch Oil Company, a large wholesale and retail dealer of petroleum products in Northern Utah. Later in his career Mr. Baggs became a member of the board of directors for the Bank of Utah. In addition to his success in business, he was also one of Utah's earliest licensed pilots. He received his license in 1927, and he was prominent in aviation groups and organizations throughout the state. He was also very active in the Boy Scouts of America, holding many different positions over the years in that organization. He was also an active member of the LOS Church. The Baggs' family owned the property until 1979, when the property was then sold to Iva M. Olive.
