The home has an irregular floor plan and a gabled roof. On the east fayade of the home the roof has curvilinear eaves that lie directly above the windows. The home is highly decorated with stone; which lies on the foundation, on the chimney, and randomly exposed through the stucco covering around the house. The home is in excellent condition and has seen relatively few changes throughout the years. In 1920 he built an Arts and Crafts cross wing bungalow just east ofthis dwelling, located at 2001 Orchard Avenue. He lived in that home at 2001 Orchard Avenue for eight years, when he then built this current house and moved into it. Mr. Wheelwright was born in Ogden in 1880, a son of William and Elizabeth Wheelwright. He was a builder and contractor, and he did construction and cement work in Ogden for many years. He was a member of the LDS Church; and he also a member of the Modern Woodmen of America. He married Anne Boag Wheelwright in 1902. She was a native of Scotland and moved to Ogden the same year she married her husband J. W. Wheelwright. She was also very active in the LDS Church. The Wheelwright's owned the home from its construction in 1928 until the 1950s, when they both passed away. The home is an excellent remnant of the building Mr. Wheelwright did in the district. The Wheelwright's lived in the home for over two decades, and in 1945 during the housing problem created by the defense industry jobs in Ogden, they created a duplex and rented out half the home. It was first rented out to Seldon Partridge and his wife Marion, Mr. Partridge was a member of the United States Army. After the Wheelwright's both passed away in the 1950s the home was taken over by Marion Tibbets, a son-in-law. Since then the home has changed hands numerous times. ft /7 -tr11 ,JOf?! The home was built on a tract of land known as the Dankowske Central Subdivision, one of only two subdivisions developed in the northern portion of the East Central District. The Dankowske Subdivision was created in 1891, during the tail end of a population and building "boom". It was created by Fred Dankowske, who at the time lived at 832 22 nd Street and was involved with real estate. He was also known for creating a subdivision in Salt Lake City during this time period. In addition to being successful in real estate and the mining business, Mr. Dankowske was most remembered by his pioneering efforts in car trailer design. He was dubbed the "father" of car trailers and was featured in Time Magazine in July 1939 for his accomplishments in this field. He was born in Poland in 1864, coming to the States in the 1880s, and in 1890 he came to Ogden. In 1898 he married Alice Robins, a daughter of early Utah pioneers.
