Briefly describe the principal building, additions or alterations and their dates, and associated outbuildings and structures. Use continuation sheets as necessary. The WheelwrightlFerguson House is a small one-and-a-half-story Vernacular-Victorian cottage, c. 1918. The home was constructed well after the Victorian building era in Ogden, however the home' s builder Thomas B. Wheelwright still utilized Victorian elements in his work years after the Victorian era ended. The Wheelwright Construction and Wheelwright Lumber Companies, in part organized and ran by T.B. Wheelwright, built numerous homes in the district similar to this style. This particular home has a rectangular floor plan, gable roof, and a shed addition in the rear. The entrance of the home is on the south side of the dwelling, the main level of the home is done in wood ship lap, with the upper ~ level in wood shingles. The home is in excellent condition and is a good representation of the Wheelwright family's work. 5 HISTORY Architect/Builder: Thomas B. Explain andjustify any significant themes marked above. Use continuation sheets as necessary. The home at 2656 Jackson Avenue was constructed in 1918 by Thomas B. Wheelwright. In 1917 Mr. Wheelwright received the parcel of land from Mary H. Driver, whose family had owned the property since 1891. Mr. Wheelwright, who helped organize the Wheelwright Lumber Company in 1912, was busy along with his brothers and other family members building homes in the district during this time period. In 1921, three years after being constructed, the house was sold to George G. Ferguson. Mr. Ferguson was a son of T.B. Wheelwright's sister Annie Wheelwright. He was a long time mechanic for the Southern Pacific Railroad. He owned the home until 1927. In 1927 the home was sold to Prudence Branham. Not much information could be found on Mrs. Branham, however, she owned the home until 197'2 . :lator· Pauses Here i SA 1lII! """'" .",....
