This part of the house currently forms the rear extension and is only visible from the side. It is a simple, gabled structure with one room and a window-door-window piercing pattern that displays bilateral symmetry. The window casings are very simple and there is one end-wall chimney. The front of the house was built at a later date and consists of frame that has been stuccoed and scored to look like stone blocks. This section has a very unusual plan, one that was probably designed and built to suit the fancy of the owner. The plan is an elongated hexagon and the ends are gabled with half-hexagon roofs. This portion of the home rests upon a pink rock foundation which has been very elaborately tooled with a herringbone pattern. (This is the first structure this author has seen that has a pink rock foundation with anything other than a pink rock walls.) The windows are decorated with mill run molding and the piercings on the front facade display bilateral symmetry. Also on the home is a non-historic addition on the least visible side of the house. Towards the rear of the lot is an interesting granary. It is built of pink rock and its Jerkin-head roof indicates a construction date of about 1906. The blocks are nicely squared and also display herringbone tooling. The granary has a full basement and rests upon a foundation of black rubble rock. The pink rock walls are squared on two sides and while the stonework is of excellent quality the mortar joints are not. This herringbone pattern in the stonework is seen on other buildings in Beaver and this author believes it is the work of someone in the Boyter family. Its elongated hexagonal plan makes it unique in Beaver and its tooled pink rock foundation is very interesting. Of further note is the fine pink rock granary on the property, one that is probably the work of the Boyter family. There is an identical granary on a nearby lot to the northwest (245 East 300 North), as it has the same Jerkin head roof, the same full basement, the same herringbone tooling, etc. Unit" Stilt. . ~ of Nadonal Par.k ~Ic. u............ ~ubstant1ve ievie, Gillies, Daniel S., House (Beaver MRA) Beaver ' County, UTAH Working Fed.
