Description ADEM is an immune-mediated demyelinating CNS disorder with predilection to early childhood. ADEM is considered a monophasic disease. However, multiphasic ADEM has been described. ADEM, when considering other demyelinating diseases, was considered a distinct entity. However, with appearance of new antibodies and pathological studies, ADEM has been even considered a transitional syndrome of yet, mostly, unclear significance.
