Description Malignant optic gliomas of adulthood (MOGA) are incredibly rare and more rapidly progressive than childhood optic gliomas. Only 33 cases of optic nerve glioblastomas have been reported in the medical literature. Frequently, patients present with misleading symptoms similar to optic neuritis like rapidly progressive visual loss, headache, and orbital pain secondary to mass effect from the tumor. They are also more common in middle age, hence mistaken for ischemic optic neuropathy (ION).
