Description While Giant Cell Arteritis (GCA) is the most common systemic vasculitis of the elderly, other vasculitides, hematologic disorders, neoplasms, and infections can mimic the symptoms of GCA. Prompt treatment for GCA is essential and should not be delayed, but misdiagnosis can lead to inappropriate treatment and delay in diagnosis of other sight- and life-threatening disorders.
