Description Central retinal artery occlusion (CRAO) is an acute ocular stroke most often caused by emboli from carotid artery disease; (1) however, there are reports of CRAO following intravascular embolization. (2-7) We present a case of CRAO following internal maxillary artery embolization in a patient with a rare variant of the ophthalmic artery arising from the external carotid.
