Reconnaissance Survey data from 1987 and 1992 show that the John B. & Ann P. Green House is one of 25 buildings of the Victorian Eclectic style, Central Block with Projecting Bays form house in American Fork. Standout features of the building include a blue limestone foundation (a common building material ofthe period in northern Utah County), classical details on the unusual, rounded wraparound porch and along the roof eaves (including classically-inspired cornice returns at each gable), and a wood shingle roof. Alterations on the house have not detracted substantially from the overall character of the house. The porch appears to have been rebuilt, as evidenced by the concrete foundation and different style of brick used along the base of the porch. Sanborn Maps indicate that the porch was once squared off at the comer, instead of rounded. An unusual detail of the porch is found at the connection between the porch columns and the roof. The columns lack the capitals usually found on classical styled columns. Instead, they taper directly into the roof fascia. Other alterations include the demolition of a wood frame rear addition that appears on 1908 and 1938 Sanborn Maps, and a rebuilt roof slope on the flat roofed portion of the house's central block. Sanborn Maps also indicate that only one outbuilding stood on the site; this was a small wood framed shed directly south of the main house. It appears on the 1908 Sanborn Map, but was demolished by the time of the next Sanborn Map in 1938. There are now three out of period sheds standing on the property, all to the rear (west) of the house. He owned the land from 1870, when land record began in Utah County, until 1879, when he sold the land to William H. Grant. Grant, whose residence was located (and still stands) at 241 W. Main Street, sold off portions of his land beginning in about 1892. This parcel was sold to John B. Green in 1891. The precise date of construction of the house that now stands on the site is unknown but probably occurred soon after Green bought the property. Green and his wife, Ann Proctor Green, lived in the house until 1902, the year of John Green's death. The family kept the property (Ann Green presumably stayed in the house during this time) until 1928. William A. Homer and his wife, Francelle, bought the house from the Green family. William was American Fork's dentist, and one of the first dentists in Utah County. Apparently, he bought the house for his daughter, Velma. In 1936, Velma Homer, who was now Velma Kim, forfeited title to the house to the Utah Home Owner's Loan Corp. In 1949 the deed was assigned to American Savings and Loan, who sold the house to Frank and Lettie Bennett. The house remains in the Bennett family; title is currently held by Justin S. Bennett.
