Description |
Built on property originally deeded to Walter Atwood, this home was built by Henry Ottley with brick from the Atwood Brick Company and the granite foundation obtained from the Salt Lake Temple Quarry. A large area of property including this property, was purchased by James Freeze in 1879 and then deeded to the Zion's Cooperative Mercantile Institution of the 13th Ward which James Freeze operated. The two story home has 2 oak and marble fireplaces with iron fronts to fireplaces that feature molded pictures of hand carts with oxen dated 1863 and a family crest. Floors were tongue and grooved oak. This home was owned by the Granters family who owned Brighton and later was remodeled during World War II into two apartments. |
