Home at 617 West 6825 South built in the 1870s

James Turner came from Kent, England in 1854 at the age of 13. Some years later he built this home on top of a hill above 700 West for his wife, Ann Margetts Turner, and a family of 13 children. The Turner family was very close and many of the descendants still live in nearby homes. A son, Hyrum, lived in the home after James died in 1926. It was later purchased by a great grandson who extensively remodeled the home in 1988 but some of the woodwork and outside decorations still remain.
