This house is a great example of lower-end Prairie School Architecture in Ogden. The porte cochere, the capitals on the structural posts, the low, hipped roof, and the overall horizontality of the home are impressive in a building this size. Architect!Builder: Taylor Building Co. Explain and justify any significant themes marked above. Use continuation sheets as necessary. This home was "Taylor Made" as the slogan for the building company went. They built several homes in Ogden, and quite a few in this particular area. Within a year of being built, this home was owned by Royal and Ruth Sorenson. Royal was a stakeman. They sold it in 1929 and eventually moved to Salt Lake. Albert Smith bought the home, but lost it in 1933, because of financial troubles. Leslie A. Smith, a physician with his office on 2404 Washington, ended up with the home. He and his wife Mary Anne sold it in 1938 to J. Donald Barney. He was the Principal of Quincy School. By 1960, as Ogden schools underwent change, he was Principal of Washington Junior High. 9- 11-/9 OJ - lI S t p ()V\~ / /A:>~{~ /)~ (J"t./d pr tlf . ~.,.J-.'
