Title The Challenge of Nystagmus
Creator M.J. Thurtell
Affiliation Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences, University of Iowa, Iowa City, IA
Subject Nystagmus is commonly encountered in neuroophthalmic practice, but it remains a challenge to diagnose and treat. Patients with congenital and acquired forms of nystagmus often report visual symptoms, including blurred vision and oscillopsia, which can be disabling and have a significant impact on the quality of life. The Nystagmus Network, a UK-based charity run by individuals and families affected by nystagmus, has organized several meetings to highlight advances in nystagmus research. The 25 chapters of this book represent the proceedings from the 2nd International Nystagmus Research Workshop, which was held in Abingdon, UK, in September 2009. The book includes more than 40 authors, including many prominent authorities on nystagmus from Europe, the USA, and Australia.
