While it is not currently listed in the National Register of Historic Places, it appears to be eligible and could likely be listed if nominated. Please see the enclosed fact sheet on the National Register for more information. With the research done to date -(partial copy enclosed), completion of a National Register nomination would be fairly straight forward. (A private consultant might charge $4-500 to prepare the nomination.) Also enclosed is the complete application package for the state historic preservation tax credit which provides for a credit equal to 20 percent of qualified rehabilitation expenditures against your state income tax. The state tax credit law requires that all proposed or on-going work must be approved by our office as meeting the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for Rehabilitation before the project is completed. Also, a minimum of $10,000 must be spent on the rehabilitation over a maximum period of 36 months. There is no fee to apply for this tax credit. This application is separate from any review or application that may be required by a local preservation commission or other organizations (e.g., Landmarks Commission or the Utah Heritage Foundation). We encourage you to apply for the preservation tax credit as soon as possible to verify if anyon-going work meets the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for Rehabilitation. Once work is underway, changes to bring the project into conformance with the Standards can be difficult, expensive or occasionally impossible to make. Photographs showing all area of work prior to the beginning of construction are required as part of the application. The state tax credit law also requires that before approval of the completed rehabilitation work can be issued (and the tax credit claimed), the owner must submit a complete National Register nomination to the State Historic Preservation Office. The required research and documentation can occur during or after the rehabilitation project. (A Guide for Preparing National Register Nominations is available from our office. Its a rather large photocopy and we are 'out' of copies right now, but I could send one when it is re-copied if you would like.) The property must be listed in the National Register within three years of claiming the tax credit. Board of State History: Marilyn C. Barker • Dale L. Berge • Boyd A. Blackner • Peter L. Goss David D. Hansen • Carol C. Madsen • Dean L. May • Christie Needham • Thomas E.
