Title Theory of optical rotatory power
Description One hundred and thirty six years ago, Jean Baptiste Biot first discovered the optical rotation of quartz. In 1860, Louis Pasteur had already reached the conclusion that "dissymmetry" is necessary for molecular rotation. With a hundred years of experimental verification, this conclusion is still true, even for the optically active crystals, the dissymmetrical arrangement of atoms or molecules in the crystals is also necessary.
