The building has a typical Period Cottage plan with a steeply pitched side gable front section and square, hipped roof rear section. The eaves are narrow and the porch is prominent and has a steeply pitched cross-gable porch cover. The bottom of the porch cover has a barrel roll shape, giving it an elliptical arch. The porch cover is supported by Colonial style columns, and the gable end of the cover and the side gable walls of the residence are clad in stucco with false timbering. A decorative beltcourse composed of solider bricks wraps around the building just above the foundation wall. Aside from the stucco in the gable ends, the building is clad in multi-colored tan-brown striated brick. The roof is clad in composite asphalt shingles. The building rests on a cast-in-place concrete foundation that encloses at full basement. The main entry to the residence is located near the western end of the primary fa~ade (northern elevation) below the porch cover. The door in the entryway is the original wood-framed, multi-light, French door. A single window opening is present in the primary fa~ade, in the eastern half of the elevation. The opening is long and rectangular, has a brick sill composed of striated bricks arranged in a rowlock bond pattern, and holds a wood-framed three-part window with a large, fixed center pane flanked by multi-light casement windows. Explain alld justify any significant themes marked above. Use continuation sheets as necessary. County tax assessment records indicate the residence was constructed in 1927. This is consistent with the chain of title records, area history, and architectural features of the building. The residence is part of the Grand Haven subdivision, which was developed and promoted by Philip Finegan in late 1909 (Salt Lake Tribune 1909). While many of the lots in the subdivision were sold at that time and are occupied by Bungalow residences, some of the lots remained undeveloped until the 1920s. The original owners of the property around the time the residence was constructed were A.L. and Eddisa Gill, who sold the parcel to Albert ant Etta Toronto in 1927 (Book of Abstracts S-19, pg. 189). A series ofliens and mortgages Builders Finance Corporation and Walker Bank ensued over the next several years (Book of Abstracts S-19, pgs. 226-227 ; Book of Abstracts S-19, pg. 304). It appears that at some point, possibly as a result of the Great Depression, the Torontos lost possession of the property, as the chain of title records indicates that Builders Finance Corporation deeded the residence to J. Gordon and Ruth Slight in 1934 (Book of Abstracts S-19, pg. 304). The Slights retained the property until 1938 and then sold it to Frank and Marion Beckstead (Book of Abstracts S-30, pg. 250). Marion retained the property until her death in 1996 (Book of Abstracts S-30, pg. 252). During the time that Marion owned the property, she likely took in boarders as a means of income, as Polk directories identify other occupants of the residence (Matt Seddon, current owner, personal communication 2008). In 1996, the estate of Marion Beckstead deeded the property to David Cacciatore (Digital Abstracts 7451, pg. 2197). Cacciatore sold the residence to the current owners, Matthew T. Seddon and Heather K. Stettler, in 2001 (Digital Abstracts 8461, pg. 4451).
