Many of the Psalms in THE BIBLE, especially of the 41 Psalms in book one, are prayer Psalms. Psalms 3 is a prayer of confidence in God. Psalm 4 is a prayer of trust Living God. Psalm 5 is a prayer for protection. Psalm 6 is a prayer for mercy. in the prayer for the wicked to be overthrown. Psalm 1 7 is a prayer for protection against oppressors. Psalm 25 is a prayer for Psalm lOis guidance for God's a protection. Psalm 28 is a prayer help. Psalm 35 is a prayer for rescue and from the enemies. Psalm 39 is prayer for self Here Psalm 7 is a prayer for a understanding. special kind of deliverance, ones own sin, from deliverance from ones own self. perhaps the greatest challenge we For we can find our way out of danger This is face. a 1 against us. We can avoid by running and hiding the danger that beast and when others come animals inflict upon us. But what we have done and bring upon ourselves is hard to be rid of. The conscience whips us and all that is available WE must put our trust in the Lord God Jehovah and admit that we are ripped is forgiveness and tom because of our we can own iniquity. So that remember what "thus saith the listen to the Psalmist in our Lord," text: Behold, he travaileth with iniquity, and hath conceived mischief, and broughtforth falsehood. He made a pit, and digged it, and is fallen into the ditch which he made. His mischief shall return upon his own head, and his violent dealings shall come down upon his own pate. (Psalm 7: 14-16) " What we do will come back to haunt us and it's hard to get rid of. Only by the power of prayer will we be delivered from our own iniquity. I am glad I know a God who hears and prayer and will deliver me 2 from my answers own sin. The Psalmist likes our condition to the conception, the birth, the carriage, and the miscarriage of pregnancy. One has a hot desire to do evil and be malicious. The day comes when the scheme of wickedness is performed. But when we see the result, the reality is not what we expect. The promise of good success yields evil and we understand that the heart has lied to us. Just because it glows and glitters and looks good does not mean it has value and is good for you. Be careful when you plot to do wrong because wrong will do you in. The Psalmist likens our condition, secondly, to a pit dug and the digger falls in his own pit. Schemes to do evil and wrong to others often backfire and we get trapped by our own doings. Firefighters have always be on their guard because the fires they are fighting might tum back on them. The rich man so during his lifetime a drop of water to cool many tuns, barrels of wine that he could not draw Dives wasted 3 his tongue. He would not share the smallest fragment of bread, a crumb and now he cannot get the smallest amount of water, a drop. He denied Lazarus the least comfort in life and he is denied the least comfort in his death. When you dig a pit and cover it over look out or you might just fall in yourself. Haman schemed and organized and built a hanging gallows for Mordecai but the king ordered him hung on it himself. The Psalmist, thirdly, likens our condition to mischief and violent dealings that come back upon our own heads. The Enron executives stole from others and cheated them and ended up in prison themselves. The fireworks lite went up but came back down on the one who set them out of their pension plans off. Ashes always fly back on the one who throws them. When you try to brand artother, you will likely bum yourself. The New Testament puts it simply, "You will reap what you sow." Those who would hurt others must 4 expect to be hurt themselves. Joseph went about his and his brothers threw him in a pit to die. thought, they pulled him out and sold him into slavery but years later when they rand out of food and got hungry they had to bow After second down before him. He said, "You evil but God meant it for heated the furnace seven good." meant The it for men times hotter than ever They caught the three Hebrew Boys and threw them in the fiery furnace. The Bible says before. the men by the who threw them in were fire but the three Hebrew without such much as all consumed Boys came the smell of smoke out on They crucified Jesus by lifting Him up on an ole rugged cross and even the centurion had to confess, "I saw a man die today." them.
