Show GODLY SORROW Luke 15: 4, 8, U-14, 25-32 The modem church focus' far too much the human instead of the divine. on Of course, Jesus all was man but He was also all God and it is the God of Him that makes us parables whole. This parable or set of passage where we tend to concentrate on the sheep, the coin, and a shepherd, the woman, or the father. We identify the sections by talking about the lost sheep, the lost coin, and the lost son. I thought today might be a good day to take a double look at the God in this chapter. So, to start let's consider the Godly the . is sons more sorrow than on the found here. First, Godly sorrow 1 reveals a good shepherd looking to find a lost sheep. He had 99 sheep in the fold but one was lost outside. He leaves the group and goes hunting for the individual. His heartfelt concern is not just for the numbers but for the lost. matters . Every soul None should be lost. There is enough for us all. Jesus came to provide salvation for us all. He knew those in the sheepfold would be alright but the one outside of the ark of safety was in danger. Each sheep has worth and room value. None are worthless. In fact, His purpose is coming was to seek and save the lost. Those who are sick need a doctor. Those that assurance He no are hopeless need the that God is with them and that Those who have drifted away, matter the reason, need to be found cares. 2 strayed need to come What makes for Godly and those that have back home. sorrow is that God will never be satisfied sheep are in the fold. in dark places need the light until all of the Even those turned on. find that made Whenever God counts and one sorrow missing, His heart is and He is likely to weep. is Second, Godly sorrow shows a diligent woman trying to find a lost coin. She took great pleasure in having ten coins but one day she discovered that one was missing. Althoough missing, there is value is each coin no matter the denomination. I walk around so much days picking up pennies. I watch others drop them and pay no attention. They act as if pennies are worthless. Did these 3 you ever think, every nickel is of five pennies, every dime stop to made up consists of ten pennies, every dollar is one hundred pennies. Just think until you get a penny you will always be short. The woman couldn't concentrate. She could not get her work done wondering where the lost coin was. So she literally upside down until she found it. Those early disciples found in the book of Acts, Holy Ghost empowered disciples made such an impact in finding the lost that they were accused of turning the world upside down. The Master grieves over each and every lost one. The woman got in a hurry looking diligently for the lost coin. Too many of turned the house in the house but lost. Aren't you the owner is looking for you. us are glad 4 Third, Godly sorrow shows a loving father waiting for a lost son to return. His youngest son went into the far country astray. He wasted what he had gotten form his father and found himself facing hard times. Even the husk of the pig pen looked good enough to eat. All the while, his father waited with outstretched arms back home. What shame when our we make our a demands for inheritance and then waste it and end up on short grass before coming to ourselves! The father grants our requests but feels for us in our need. He knows self-centered, although he thinks otherwise, is not prepared for what the far country is serving up. So while he waits and hopes, that the immature and his heart bleeds for the 5 soon return. In waywardness, the refusal to come home pained the father's heart. Finally, Godly sorrow extends to the son who never left home physically but did mentally and s spiritually. When the celebration party started, that son did not know what was going on and when spite of his he found out he wouldn't come in. He did not love his brother whom he grew up with so he turned on his own father and refused the invitation to celebrate. He was so surprised and resentful that he rej ected all that his father stood for. While the younger boy came home offering to be a servant, the elder boy never left but acts like land. Anybody who and restore is a a slave in his refuses to own forgive slave to this world. My what Godly sorrow! 6 For Jesus gave up His came privilege with the Father and to seek and to save, to rescue and forgive and forget, to give life and that more abundantly. When ever we stray, God's heart is broken. Why not join the Master in His search for the lost and forgiveness of sin. Don't be like the Pharisees refusing to believe that God like a good shepherd looks for that sheep restore, to gone astray, like lost a woman coin, and like sons to repent and When I was a a seeks for the father waits for His come boy, home. we had lots of chopped and picked cotton, planted com and pulled fodder, gathered wheat and winnowed it, fed the animals, plowed the land, and brought in wood. I didn't mind the work work in the fields. We because I knew sooner 7 of later mom would step out on the porch and call, "Come home, come home, it's supper time." I tell you Jesus is calling, "Come unto me all ye that labor and are heavy Take my upon you and learn of me. For my is easy and my burden is light." laden and I will yoke yoke give you rest. 8 |
