Show A MEMORIAL Matthew 26: 13 Twice in the or gospels, Mark 14: 9 we find this story. We studied this story in Sunday School on February 28, 2010. The topic was By A Woman In "Extravagant Love" "Anointed or "A Bethany" or Special Act of Love." It is the story about a woman breaking a very precious bottle of ointment and poured it on Jesus as he sat at meat. The disciples thought it was a waste and that the ointment at least could have been sold with the proceeds given to the poor. Jesus reminded the disciples that the woman had done something very special, pouring this oil in anticipation of His death. Then Jesus 1 them, "Wherever this gospel shall be preached in the whole world, there shall also this, that this woman hath done, be told for a memorial of her." (Matthew 26: 13) For more than 19 centuries, this woman's story has been said to told and retold. people are paying tribute to and remembering their loved ones all over the place. It is a special time set aside to recall, to remember the giving of that ultimate gift of life or those who fought to protect our rights. F or a memorial is a way of keeping the memory alive. It a marking It is Memorial weekend and of time and action so that others will know about it. It is to focus-on commemorate, to be mindful 2 or of, to remind oneself of where we have come teacher with from. A memorial is a lesson for today from yesterday. a So Jesus says of the woman who anointed Him with expensive oil, the equivalent of a year's wage, from her "Wherever this gospel alabaster bottle, shall be preached in the whole , world, there shall also this, that this woman hath done, be told for a memorial of her."
