Show FROM YOUNG TO OLD "I HAVE BEEN YOUNG, AND NOW AM OLD; YET HA VE I NOT SEEN THE RIGHTEOUS FORSAKEN, NOR HIS SEED BEGGING BREAD." (Psalm 37: 25) The Ecclesiastical writer wrote that there are essentially two stages of life. (3: 2) We are born and then we die. The Lord give thanks the Lord taketh away; blessed be the name oft he Lord. If the Lord has mercy on us and we do what is right, we live long enough in our youth to become old. In this Psalm 3 7 text, the writer David says, "I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous·forsaken, nor his seed begging bread. " He seems to be teaching us four 1 things. First, "/ have been young... " In other words, there are the experiences of the early life. We are shaped and molded. Like a green sapling, we are being bent and crafted as we need to be. In the early days, the energy of being young is evident. Second, "And now am old... " With the passing of time and experience, one matures and grows older and hopefully wiser. We learn some things as time passes and we continue to live. After a while, we become adults and grow old. We are set in our ways and there is not use trying to been the tree because it will break. Third, "Yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken ... " Those who abide 2 by the Lord's commandments will have company along the way. Satan try do it our way to catch us off guard and number one trick, that of making us think we are alone, will not work. We have the promise of God assuring us that God is with us all the way and all the time. We are not left to fend for ourselves, to find our own way. When we are righteous, the savior is the way. Fourth, " ... nor his seed begging bread. " The Master promised to supply all of our needs, that those who trust in Him will be clothed like the sparrow and the lily. We do not have to stand in the soup lines or beg others to meet our needs. The righteous has a pipeline to the kingdom storehouse of God. 3 |
