The committee determined that the building is eligible for nomination as part of the "thematic" study of apartment buildings in Salt Lake City. We have not yet received a response from you either in favor of or in opposition to the nomination of your property. If you object to the nomination, we recommend that you let us know so that your property is not listed against your wishes. Generally, we consider a "no response" as an approval, though at the present time we are not processing them as such. In the future, however, that policy may be followed once again. The reason we currently are not processing "no response" nominations as "approvals" is is that we are concerned that apartment owners fully understand the implications of National Register listing. As we explained to you in the earlier letter, though the National Register does not involve any restrictions to property owners, the Salt Lake City Register does, and it is the City's policy to automatically list National Register properties on its City Register . Therefore, by allowing your building to be listed on the National Register you are allowing it to be put on the City Register and become subject to certain local regulations. For more information on what those regulations are please contact William Schwab at the Salt Lake City Planning and Zoning Department (801/535-7757). Board of State History: Thomas G. Alexander.
