The Cockroaches of Salt Lake County, Utah (Family Blattidae)

A. Statement of the Problem One of the most disagreeable pests of human habitations is the common cockroach. They are not only regarded as a nuisance and a sign of uncleanliness, but they do a great deal of damage to food and stored products. This formidable insect leaves an obnoxious odor wherever he goes and is well equipped to serve as a mechanical carrier of disease. The United States Public Health Service in 1952 made the statement, "Equally important as disease carriers are flies and roaches ".
